Risk Assessment

Scope of a risk assessment:

The risk assessment covers emissions, consequent environmental impact and human exposure at each stage of the life-cycle of a chemical (production, processing, formulation and use, disposal)

Protection goals:

Environment: atmosphere, aquatic organisms, sediment- and soil-dwelling organisms, micro-organisms in waste water treatment plants, mammals and birds exposed via accumulation up the food chain.

Exposure of humans: from consumer products, through air, food, and drinking water (man exposed via environment) and exposure at the workplace.

More information on the EU Risk Assessment principles can be found on the website of the European Chemicals Bureau.

Reference list:

The attached list of studies (see pdf file) has been sent to the Swedish Rapporteur, KemI to be included in the Risk Assessment report of Antimony Trioxide. Most of the studies have been sponsored by IAOIA to fill in data gaps or clarify discussion items on occupational exposure, environmental toxicity and human health in the Risk Assessment Report.
